Louis   Staffieri

STATEMENT:

I use my work as a reflection of my environment, self, and comment on socio economic statuses through medium selection. I execute my works using found woods, metals, papers, and fabrics and employ traditional art materials as transformative tools for my found mediums. I approach my constructions and collages with the bias and sensibilities of a painter and consider my work, regardless of category, to be parallel with or itself painting. Aesthetically my intentions are to create abstract compositions that are attentively idiosyncratic but not arbitrary and cling to the wall classically like paintings. I aim to deconstruct languages' visual motifs, dismantle capitalist ideals, embrace a lack of finesse through basic assembly and attack anti-intellectualism through non objective means. I find my strongest works come from an intense introspective place of duress or crisis, accessed only when desperately working a piece to a state that is successful. The work itself is an organism that is birthed through working class American financial circumstance; I've found at times this intimate economical broadcasting speaks truer than aesthetics can.

BIO:

Based in Everett, Massachusetts, Louis Staffieri is a 26-year-old Italian American artist working at the intersection of painting and assemblage.

His practice draws from the textures and realities of working-class life, using found wood, metal, fabric, and paper as a foundation for building raw, expressive compositions.

A recent graduate of Montserrat College of Art, Staffieri earned his BFA in painting along with the 2025 Painting Merit Award and Best in Show at the Senior Showcase. His work has been shown throughout the East Coast, and he is an active member of the New Hampshire Art Association and the Rocky Neck Art Colony. He also has shown work at prestiguous spaces like Agora Gallery and The Gallery at Jimmys.

Each piece Staffieri creates begins with observation of his environment, of himself, and of the social and economic forces that shape daily life. His materials are chosen not just for texture but for meaning. He takes discarded and everyday objects and transforms them into layered works that hold emotional significance and visual impact.

Staffieri’s art doesn’t aim to impress; rather it aims to connect. His goal is to expand his reach, grow through collaboration, and continue building work that speaks honestly to experience.

He is currently seeking gallery representation.
